Chris & Christine's Crafts

Do you love unique and hand made items? Well this week I have the pleasure of telling you all about Chris & Christine's Crafts! The creative duo based in Nottingham handcraft lovely pieces, from cute cards, to fun pieces of jewellery, home decor and crafty wreaths!

Their designs have the perfect mix of modern and traditional, with their traditional home decor products certainly having a pop art feel to them. The inspirations for their designs come from the things that they love, such as comic books and music, and they brilliantly incorporate these into their designs.  I wanted to find out more about their passion for crafts, so I caught up with the pair to find out more!

Chris explained "I like coming up with an idea and refining it and seeing it through to a finished product. It’s really satisfying to see my work on someone's wall. With my pictures I find drawing engrossing. i have ideas in my head and I just want to see them as a finished, touchable, tactile object."

Christine revealed "I just love making things. I love crafting. It keeps me busy, it occupies my mind and my time, it's a great thing to share and do with family and it's something of which I can feel proud. I'm inspired by bright colours and the desire to make a home welcoming and pretty, but in a bit of a quirky way."

With so many wonderful products to choose from, I wanted to find out what their most popular products were. Not surprisingly their handmade cards fly of the shelves.

"We think because post is so rare nowadays, when you want to send something to your loved ones now you make it special. We provide a handmade, carefully crafted item which is affordable and I think that's what people are looking for." Chris & Christine

Their adorable jewellery line Luna & Kiki, named after their adorable cats, has proven very popular and is inspired by Japanese culture. "We named our jewellery selection Luna & Kiki after our furry babies. Luna is a noble blue tortoise-shell lioness of a cat, and her little sister Kiki is a pint sized black mischief maker." Their designs are very personal in this way, even down to the name of their collections.

It is clear that Chris and Christine genuinely love creating their products, they are an adorable couple that really put themselves into their products. I wanted to know how they both got into crafts.

"We both always made stuff. Each birthday I make Chris a comic book called 'The Continuing Story of Chris and Christine'. We've made each other -t-shirts, books, poetry, paintings, sketches, playing cards, earrings, you name it. Chris' art was one of the first things that drew me to him."

Chris agreed "I drew a picture of her cat and that was that. I've always been quite creative and since being with Christine I think we've both just flourished in creativity."

Knowing how creative the couple are, I wanted to know their plans for their Christmas range! As they originally began by specialising in Christmas items, I knew they would have a lot of exiting products in store. They have christmas decorations, beautiful christmas cards and wreaths, I would definitely recommend taking a look if you are feeling festive!

With the new year ahead, I wanted to know what was next for Chris and Christine's crafts. "We are really excited for the Christmas period. Then once Christmas is finished we're going to be super concentrating on getting our website ship shape and throwing our all into that. We'd personally love to do more events, so hopefully 2017 will be a good year for that!"

So  what is the best way to get hold of Chris and Christine's crafts?

"There are lots! First of all, we encourage people to browse our website and snap up some Christmas cards and stocking fillers. Second, we have a stand within Made in Nottingham in the Broadmarsh Centre in Nottingham. Made in Nottingham is a hub of artists and crafters from all over Nottingham, and it's been a really fantastic place to grow as creative business owners.
Finally, if people have requests for water colour paintings, decor or jewellery they'd like us to create especially for them we would love people to contact us on Facebook or via our email. We're more than happy to make bespoke products."

  10. Their collection is absolutely adorable and would make perfect gifts for the holidays; I love the bear pieces! I can definitely relate to their sentiments regarding crafting, it's always such a great feeling when you get an idea in your head, see it on paper, but when you actually see it come to life, there's no better feeling than that! Thanks so much for sharing, gorgeous, and I hope you have the best weekend ahead!
