How to be successful.

What's your vision of success? So many of us are trying to become 'something', sometimes we forget that we already are.

It is brilliant to have dreams and aspirations and I would never discourage this. Dreams can differ drastically from one person to another, so dream what you want to dream, not what anyone has told you to dream because there is no point in living life to impress other people.

But often we are under the impression that our idea of 'success' whatever it may be, is the answer to happiness. That happiness would come if we were at the envy of our peers, or if we were respected as one of the ones that 'made it'. Instead of searching inwards we are searching outwards for the answers and therefore never quite grasping what we are searching for. It has always been this way but with social media these days, it can be so easy to become absorbed into our 'celebrity' culture, but we can remove the unnecessary pressure from our shoulders and breath.

We must ensure that we are not pinning our own worth and happiness on the idea of achieving our idea of 'success'. Your worth does not differ if you have or have not achieved your goals. You were worth something yesterday, you are worth something today and you will be worth something tomorrow. So I encourage you, go ahead and work towards your goals, but never misplace that firm foundation of knowing who you are and that this does not change depending on your 'success'.

You know that it is a crazy world when people are more concerned with what you do, rather than the type of person that you are. Instead of thinking about what we want to be, we should focus on who we want be. So share the wonder of who you are and don't hold back because that is what truly makes the world a better place. Share your kind heart, or your sense of humour, whatever your lovely qualities may be, do not hide them away.

Work towards your dreams, but love yourself along the way, don't be too hard on yourself wherever your journey may lead. When the time comes, it is important that we feel that life has not been wasted. How we make the most out of life is something that we each have to figure out for ourselves, but I for one want to look back and see happiness.

Much love,

  10. This is such a wonderful post, Marianne! I agree with everything you've said. We tend to be overly concerned with gaining recognition and affirmations from people, instead of focusing on what truly makes us happy and becoming better versions of ourselves. Social media is great in so many ways, but it's also a blessing and a curse. A curse in that it tends to put unnecessary pressure on so many people, since we're constantly seeing what looks to be perfect lives lived by our friends, family or people we've admired in our industries. It's great to become inspired by all of their success, but there's a fine line that can cause us to enter into jealousy and insecurity. With all of that said, I believe success is doing something that we are passionate about, whatever it may be, regardless of what others think or feel about it. When we're doing something and are not concerned at all about what others are saying, then I think we're doing what we're meant to do :) Great post, beauty! I hope you're having a great day so far and thanks so much for sharing!
