Women with goals

I hope everyone is having a great week so far! I felt inspired so I just wanted to share some encouragement and thoughts for all the hard working women out there!

I think as women, many of us underestimate ourselves. If we actually believe in ourselves and consider ourselves as serious contenders, we would be amazed at what we could achieve. Most of us have so much more to offer than what we realise, and we tend to sell ourselves short.

Nottingham Christmas Market

As it is December, I think it's about time to get Christmassy! Last weekend we went to check out the Christmas market in Nottingham and I thought I would share a few photographs with you. Not only does the market have some cute little stalls, but there is an ice rink, an ice bar and quite a lot of yummy food! I enjoyed a hotdog and couldn't say no to some tasty pancakes smeared in Nutella! Being mid day, I decided to give the mulled wine and cider a miss.

Finding work

If you follow my blog you will know that I recently relocated with my partner to another city, I wrote about this on my post Changing Rooms. This change meant that I needed to find new work and although I adored my colleagues, I was going to take this as a positive opportunity to look for work that interests me.

Finding work took longer than I was expecting. Of course it was nice to have free time, but my partner and I were keen to start our new life and work towards our goals. One of the main reasons we moved was because we wanted to buy our own place (as London house prices are off the charts) but we couldn't achieve this until I found work.

Let's Get Real

Cleaning mould from the windows and walls of the flat I am currently renting, this is how I spent my evening and now I sit down to write this blog post. This is because life isn't always glamorous!

Blogging began with real people, but sometimes we often forget this. Many bloggers have mastered the art of making their life seem so effortlessly glamorous, with new beautiful locations every week and stunning photography, but this isn't the case for most people! In reality we all live a life with highs and lows. We all have chores to complete and we all have to handle our responsibilities.

It's gonna be alright

Today I am feeling positive and hopeful for the future, which makes today the perfect day to write a blog post! Something to look back on in negative moments.

Having just moved to a new city, not everything has gone the way I wanted it to go, however I am learning to appreciate the way things are. We are making the most out of our situation, because we know that we are making progress (even if slower than hoped) and we are on our way. Sometimes I forget to live in the moment and enjoy the here and now. When we look back at memories, sometimes we appreciate them more than we actually did at the time, because in our everyday moments, we take for granted the fact that things will not always be this way. So today I have decided to embrace everything about this day.

Speak Unapologetically

My quietness was often misunderstood, I kind of liked it in a weird way, it meant that my personality was exclusive to just a few VIP's and only those VIP's knew who I really was. It held me back in many ways, my shyness often frustratingly stopped me from truly representing who I was, my quirky self. It's funny though because I always had such a strong sense of who I was, I guess that was part of the reason I didn't feel the need to speak up, I didn't feel the need to impress anyone, which again can lead to being misunderstood. I didn't cry for attention, I wasn't interested in being wild, I was content in myself and I think that came from the love I knew and know.

At first I was going to let this post speak for itself, as I didn't want to be too 'in your face', but then I changed my mind. I changed my mind because there is nothing offensive about this post. I do wonder why people get so defensive when they hear the word 'feminist'. I think the word is often misinterpreted or misunderstood. According to the Oxford Dictionary feminism is described as follows: 'The advocacy of women's rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes'.

Rejection can hurt, especially when you try your hardest and feel that you have so much to offer. It is hard and frustrating when someone doesn't see the potential in you. It isn't easy to always be positive, personally I find it very difficult. You can only be yourself and do your best, there is nothing more that you can do.

All I can say is to keep loving yourself, don't put yourself down. Surround yourself with people who encourage you and support you. It is okay to give yourself a period to be upset, but also let it pass. Do not take things personally, just remember that one rejection may lead to another opportunity. Don't give up on yourself, cause a winner don't quit on themselves. x

Spot the difference

Spots aren't a new thing, yet they can still be so misunderstood. We have all experienced spots, yet people that struggle with spots can sometimes be unfairly stigmatised, so today I aim to clear up a few of the rumours that go around.

Rosie for Autograph

Rosie Huntingdon-Whiteley recently released a new makeup range for her brand Autograph, in partnership with Marks and Spencer and I had been looking forward to getting my hands on it! What appeals to me about this makeup range is that Rosie is a makeup enthusiast herself, so I can relate to her passion for makeup and the excitement that she must have for her range. I have found Rosie's designs for Autograph brilliant so far and I feel that Rosie is the perfect person to collaborate with Marks and Spencer, it just works so well. As a fan of Rosie myself and a lover of makeup, I found combining the two was a great idea!

Keep Shining! ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆

This post is dedicated to all the school goers. Your teen years are a time in your life when you are getting to know who you are. It is also a time in your life where you may feel the most pressure from your friends to be or behave a particular way. At this time, the desire to fit in can be such a strong one and achieving popularity is sometimes seen as the most important goal in life, you can become so focused on tying to fit in that you forget to be true to yourself.

In school status can be seen as everything, but I say to you, don't believe it all, it means nothing. Don't forget that school is for only a short period of your life, although it may feel like forever, it will soon become a thing of the past. Where you are now does not define you and your current situation is only for a moment, this is true for everyone. I promise you, that as you get older, you will come to meet people from all walks of life with different ways of looking at the world.

February J's

Its hard for me to pinpoint a particular style that I associate with myself. I think I can be quite random with my style choice, but I believe this is because I find so many different things beautiful. Although it does mean that I often end up with lots of different things in my wardrobe that don't always go together. I really appreciate that art of pulling lots of different things together and making them work. This month I have decided to show you a more chilled style because these new Jordans are so comfortable, I have been wearing them none stop, hence the name of the blog post! I hope everyone has had a wonderful February and has a great start to March. x

Hello Beautiful

We all have insecurities, some people just hide theirs better than others. The key is to start to love and accept yourself as you are. Make a decision not to say anything negative about yourself. Start focusing on the things that you like about yourself and embrace them and speak about yourself kindly. There is nothing wrong with loving how you have been made,
so always love and take care of yourself.

Light It Up

Researches have named today as 'the most depressing day of the year', so this is a quick post to encourage all of those that suffer from seasonal affective disorder (SAD). According to the NHS Website SAD is described as 'a type of depression that comes and goes in a seasonal pattern.'  This effects so many people and the winter time can be tough, so if you want to find out more about SAD, click here.

Sometime's I feel that this disorder is not always taken seriously and it can be disheartening and difficult for those that struggle with SAD, so I am sending a big shout out and lots of love to all of those holding on for the summer. x

As we can all benefit from a little more light in winter, I recently attended the Lumiere event in London. Lumiere is a free light festival, with artistic light installations throughout the city. It was lovely to go and see and it provided a little bit of excitement and positivity for everyone.
