Best 5 of 2014

As it's coming to the new year, it's the perfect opportunity to evaluate. It can be hard to pick just one thing to work on as a 'new years resolution' but if we can accomplish just one challenge at a time, we will start seeing results. Let's aim to make the most of every day in 2015!

Here are 5 of my favourite products from 2014 (in no particular order):

Smelling like Coco Chanel

This perfume deserves it's own post because it just smells so good! Coco Chanel had been on my wish list for a while. It's one of those perfumes that lasts all day long. I love it when somebody walks past and you can smell their perfume, after all isn't that what perfume is for!?

Elegant and sophisticated, it is described as an oriental spicy fragrance, warm with rose, mandarin orange, jasmine and cloves. If you're looking to invest in a decent perfume I would recommend going into a store to try the scent and I hope that you will enjoy the fragrance just as much as I do.

In the mean time here are a few photographs for you because it's just so pretty! :)

Beautifully Care Free

Makeup: Marianne Sophia
Hair: Natasha Joy
Photography: Marianne Sophia

The makeup for this look was kept natural with a nude lip. On the lips I used Creme De' Nude by MAC and a brown lip pencil. Emphasis on the eyes was added with liquid eyeliner and a green eyeliner pencil.
The hair was wonderfully styled by hairstylist Natasha Joy of Oryna Hair.

Nip and Tuck

Modified images of people are everywhere, not only that, modified bodies are everywhere! Everyday we are constantly bombarded with theories of the ideal body image and the issue isn’t going away.  Everyday we are encouraged to compare our bodies to others but why!? Why do we feel the need to change our beautiful bodies? We are all under pressure to meet unnatural and unrealistic standards of beauty. and it can be exhausting!

Comparing our bodies also encourages us to adopt this judgemental attitude towards others and we can become part of the problem. There is always a craze in the media, weather it’s Kim Kardashian’s butt or Pamela Andersons body. There is so much profit to be made out of making women feel insecure about themselves.

So Classy!

These days we spend so much time working on our outer appearance but when we dig a little deeper what do we find?

The word 'class' is so often associated with the way in which somebody presents themselves with their clothes. When I consider class, I see it as more than just your outer appearance. To me, class is not only your presentation but a way in which you carry yourself. It is in the way that you deal with situations and in the way that you handle yourself.

It is important to work on our inner self. Class, humility and grace are such beautiful qualities to have and they also enable us to achieve so much. When we humble ourselves, we take a step back and look at the world from a new perspective. Sometimes, it can be difficult not to allow your emotions to take over you, but when you take a step back and humble yourself it allows you to think clearly and make wise decisions. So let the red fade before making decisions and then act with dignity. It is important to stand up for yourself but when you do this with elegance, you can stand firm and know that you have handled the situation with integrity.

Let’s put the focus on our inner qualities as they far outweigh the outer. We are each so individual and different and therefore struggle with different things but as we start to work on what we find challenging, hopefully in time these difficulties will become easier. Things are always scarier to begin with, but if we keep challenging and pushing ourselves then in time we will adapt.

Benefit Cosmetics: They're Real! Mascara and Push-up Liner.

The Benefit Cosmetics lovers out there will probably know that the new They're Real Push Up Liner came out in the UK on Saturday the 28th of June 2014. This gel liner pen has been highly anticipated since the They're Real mascara pretty much sold out all over the place.

Clinique Sunkissed Bronzer and different Ice Bloom Lipstick

True Bronze Pressed Powder

Clinique: True Bronze Pressed Powder in Sunkissed
'Lightweight powder bronzer creates a natural-looking, sunny glow.'

I had been meaning to try a Clinique bronzer for a while now so I thought that I would finally give it ago! I had been slightly anxious to invest in another bronzer as they often appear slightly dark on my fair skin but as I had been impressed with how it appeared on somebody else I thought I would give it ago.

Let's Chat About: Media, Insecurities and Expectations

Hello beautiful people!

I wanted to touch on the subject of insecurities and expectations. Looking around, it is easy to be misled and influenced into believing certain lies. Everywhere we turn, we see imagery and advertisements that can condition the way in which we think and feel about ourselves.
